How would you like to draw all the cards too? Well, just have Fool's Demise on Toothy, Imaginary Friend with a few counters on it, then sacrifice Toothy. With just a basic Island, Minn, Meloku, and a free sacrifice outlet, you can get infinite ETB triggers, death triggers, and landfall triggers. Minn's second ability negates all the downside of Meloku's token making ability by letting you just put the land back down when the token dies at the very least, as well as letting you upgrade those lands into something even better if your imaginary friends are beefy enough. Meloku was good, but in this deck he's just insane. I wouldn't be surprised if the Esper deck is a trial run to see if people get upset after the way the precons have been going and if not enough people do get upset I won't be surprised to see decks look more like the 20 precons as time goes on.I have to start by talking about Meloku, the Clouded Mirror in this deck. The more cards that need to be taken out means more money they make. Selling decks that need modifications makes WotC more money, which is why they do it. You'd need to cut down at least 30 just to have something other than Esper Good Stuff The only precon I will ever recommend to a new player is the Dimir ZNR deck because it actually functions out of the box. They were designed with a lower 'budget', so they focused them a bit more, which incidentally made the ZNR precons (mainly the Dimir one, the Naya one isn't great), and the KHM ones as well, but to a lesser extent, better out of the box. You can't compare the set precons to others because they were designed differently and are almost entirely different products because of it. It's a deck that's like 70% reanimation targets and no way to do anything with itīoth the Zendikar Rising and Kaldheim decks were better built than this one and those were only $20. If it's meant to be a reanimator deck, then you have 9 cards that can reanimate and you're relying almost entirely on looting and/or Tomb of Annihilation as a sac outlet and no death triggers other than the commander. What does this deck have? If it's supposed to be a full venture deck, there's only 5 cards that venture, not even some of the common draft chaff venture cards like ] or ]. Ranar is obviously a commander meant to capitalize on foretell, but they didn't want to load up the entire deck with all the foretell cards to sell Kaldheim packs, so they made a blink deck that had some good foretell cards like ], ], and ], but held out on cards like ] and ]. What I'm trying to say is that this deck, even compared to other commander precons, has no theme other than 'play good cards in Esper colors,' not even something as simple as Esper Reanimator.įor a good example of what I'm disappointed about, look at the decklist for ] from Kaldheim.
